Yappy Hour at Cape Cod Beer
A two-hour casual affair for beer and dog lovers
The Cape is becoming a lot more dog-friendly, so why limit yourself to just parks and pet stores for a day out with your dog? Every second Tuesday of the month, Hyannis brewery Cape Cod Beer hosts Yappy Hour, a special event that encourages visitors to bring their dogs and relax with a brew.
“Yappy Hour is intended as a social for beer lovers who are also dog owners,” says Amanda Kaiser, the Marketing and Events Coordinator. The two-hour event is a casual affair, with a doggy treat raffle hosted by Wicked Pissah Bone Company.
Aside from socializing with people, visitors might get a chance to meet Buster Brown, the brewery’s four-legged mascot. Owned by the founders, Beth and Todd Marcus, he’s inspired his own brew, Buster’s Brown Ale, which visitors can get on-tap. “For folks that are looking for something kind of fun, look for the dog bone tack handle."
Cape Cod Beer is run by dog-lovers, and the daily tours and tastings are also dog-friendly. Kaiser says, "We’ve gone out of our way to make sure our two-legged visitors are welcome with our four-legged visitors.”
This gives leashed dogs a safe space out in public and socialize, while the owners can enjoy tasting the various beers. “The only thing better than beer is beer with your dog,” she says.
